Trânsito em São Paulo - Traffic in São Paulo

=======================

I've aways heard that São Paulo's traffic is terrible, but as I had driven there just a few times, I had never seen it in reality. Well, today I started to agree with this statement. I went to a theater where my father was preparing stuff for the play he was going to present, and he told me to park my car in a street closer to the theater, because it was safer. There was a free market on the street at the side of the theater, so I had to drive around the district to get there. But I spent one entire hour trying to drive around it, and I coudn't!!! And the main reason wasn't the big amount of cars, but the bad shape of the streets, that didn't follow any logic pattern. Sao Paulo's traffic is really chaotic...

Trabalho demais - Too much work

We can find out that we are working too much when we start solving problems from our job during our dreams...

Sonhos malucos - Weird dreams

Ser um cartão de crédito... - To be a credit cardEssa noite eu tive um sonho muito estranho.

==================================

Last night I had a very weird dream. I mean, I think I had... I'm not sure. I dreamed that I was a credit card. When I woke up, I didn't remember very well, so I started to think about it. It must be tough to be a credit card. Aways be passing through hands of lots of people, cloned sometimes... Besides that, a credit card is loved up to the bill. After receiving the bill, he is hated to death. Fortunately it was just one more weird dream...

Telefones celulares - Mobile Phones

Meu celular...

======================================

It's incredible how things doesn't work when we need them. Specially general services, like banks and similar. It's been a long time since I'm trying to buy a post-paid mobile phone, but they never accepted my address receipts (I'm a nomad, remember? no eletricity or water bills...). But now that I got one receipt that they would accept, the damn registration system was down! I think that there is some "mobile phone god" who doesn't like me...

Lar??? - Home???

Vista do meu quarto em Macaé - View from my room at Macaé, BrazilQue lar que nada... E tou me sentindo muito estranho aqui! =(

=================================================

No home for me... I'm already back to USA, for the second training course from my company. And I'm feeling very strange here! On the last time, with other brazilians, it was easier to get things, because everyone helped everyone... But now, I'm all alone here... =(

By the way, these last two weeks were very tough, so tough that I couldn't even post something here. I had to study a lot, because I needed to pass through a test, to be allowed in this course. So, I studied at least 14 hours a day, everyday, with no Saturday, no Sunday, or even Easter. But it had worth, because I did pass the test, and now I'm here. And just to show you this scene, I'm posting two pictures. The fist one is from the view of my room in Macaé, in Brazil, and the second one is from my room here. I coudn't even walk around the beach... =(

Talking again about USA's particularities, today I was really upset!!! I went out to buy some food at a supermarket, and I was trying to find a place to cross the street (with lots of cars, by the way). But there wasn't any traffic lights, or even a pedestrian line... I walked about two kilometers until I found a traffic light, but still with no fucking pedestrian line. It was a kind of a crazy intersection, and I took about 15 minutes to get to cross that thing. On my way back, I noticed that there wasn't anyone walking on the street, I was the only one walking by foot there. Actually, I think that's one more reason for the americans being so fat... All of them have cars, nobody walks!!! That's why the parking lots are so large, and there are almost no sidewalks for people...

Well, I found out a way to post videos on the internet (on Bruno's blog, sorry for copying you!), and I will post some here, so you can see how are things going. This one is that one I promised some days ago, when we were sliding with cars during that driving course. It was very cool!

Cidadezinhas - Small towns

Olha a placa do carro - Look at the car signEnquanto dirigia, eu pude reparar como essa cidade é minúscula.

===================================

Cachorrinho bonitinho - Cute little dogToday we had our first day of hands-on classes on defense driving. It was pretty cool, we did some simulations about some risky situations, like sudden corners, hard breaks and response actions. After that we went out for a driving around the city...

While I was driving, I could see how this city is so small. Many small houses with no gates or walls around, a small school, a post office. Some cars, just a few people at the streets, really looks like a small ville (no, I'm not Clark Kent). Here there are about one thousand people, where 75% are my company's employees. But fortunately, I just study here, and I'm living in a hotel in a city close to here, a littel bit bigger... eheheh

Another thing that I found pretty funny here was that americans can put whatever they want in their car signs. Take a look on this one at the picture. Plus this one, I'm posting a picture of a very cute dog that I've seen here, really big!

Jipes e limosines - Rally cars and limos

==========================================

SUV'sToday we traveled from Houston, Texas, to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Here in Tulsa it's a little bit colder, and this city is much smaller... Just after we arrived here, we went to have dinner in a restaurant close to the hotel, the Outback. It's inside is pretty much like this restaurant in Brasl, but the food is a little bit different...

Bandeira americana - American flagTalking again about car, those kinds of yellow buses really exist!!! Exactly the same as from movies!!! I was really surprised when I saw one of these passing on the street, and I felt like putting a sheet of paper under its tires, to have a "signature"... eheheh... Also, I saw lots of "limos" in Houston... And even some really long Rally cars, as they were "limos" too, very weird!!! I'm posting some pics today, and I will also put some of those SUV's I told you before.

Another thing that I found very interesting here is that is USA flags everywhere... It's incredible how these people are patriots! I'm looking forward to check this out on the independence day...

Mais coisas estranhas - More weird things

Não me perguntem o porquê!

===================================

Today we normally had more classes... But we left a little bit earlier, and we could go shopping!!! And I finally bought my camera and my iPod! So, soon I will post here some pictures. And one funny thing that happened while I was looking for the camera... I went to ask for some help from one of the atendants: "Please, do you have the model X of this camera and blablabla...". And she interrupts me: "Sorry, I don't work here!"... Good starting... eheheh

Back to weird things, I have some more things to say about cars. Mainly, the car models here are like sport models or SUV's (Sport Utilitary Vehicle), like a family van, as Pagero or Sportage. It's very common here! But, a really bizarre thing that I saw here was an american guy brushing his teeth using Diet Coke to clean the foam from his mouth... Don't aske me why!

My friend Zezé, when he was here in USA, aways talked about a soft drink called Dr. Pepper. He used to say that it was wonderful, different from everything he had drank before, and that he couldn't live without it. Of course I was very curious about it, and the first thing I did when I arrived here was to look for one of this. But it's horrible, tastes so bad!!! Zezé, I'm sorry, but you've gotten a very bad taste of things...

É incrível como o time visitante é totalmente vaiado e desmotivado a jogar...

=========================================

This was my first day in USA. The flight was calm, but tiring... The airplane was nice, and had lot's of kinds of entertainment, like movies, series and even some silly games. We arrived at the hotel by around 8 AM. Then we had breakfast, and took our only free day to hang around as tourists (to sleep is just for weak people... eheheh).

We decided in visiting Johnson Space Center, NASA site in Houston (you're right, that one from the famous sentence "Houston, we have a problem!"). It wasn't so exciting, but interesting. We could see how the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station are build, it's really cool from an "engineering" point of view. Besides, there were many exhibitions, explaining many things about the history of NASA and about the space programs. I could even touch a rock from the moon! Eheheh... And there were also some cientific toys, just one more kind of entertainment for tourists.

After spending all day long there, we went to watch an NBA match during night. Houston is The Rockets' home, and as I could see, they really aren't doing a good season... The arena was kind of empty, and they lost the game. But even with this, it has worth the visit, because it's very different from the TV. The match is indeed a big show, full of aditional things, like sound and light effects, cheerleaders (very good, by the way) and entertainers, who keep saying and doing some silly things during the breaks. And the game is also different... I have never noticed this, but there is only supporters from the home team (poor visitor...), and the guy who's supposed to comment the match doesn't do this, but motivates the people on the arena, also supporting the home team. It's incredible how the visitors are not motivated to play, by the people shouts and gestures. The structure of the game, in the other way, would turn any brazilian stadium into a bathtub. There are lots of electronic displays and giant screens everywhere, not to mention the excellent sound, the very confortable chairs, and the services, like toilets and fast food. Everything is great! Ah, and other thing I found weird is the fact that they play various music themes during the game, at each small part of the game. I was wondering if american people would be an excited support for their team if they didn't have all this stuff, like in a brazilian stadium... They just was shouting and supporting their team because of the motivation of the entertainers, otherwise I think they would remain sit all quiet in their chairs...

To be in another country is making me notice many different things. They can seem silly, but they I notice them, and fell strange about them. The first thing I noticed here is that is really true that the water goes counter-clockwise in the toilets (now you could understand the title of this post, don't you?). And also, the most part of american people is very fat! And stuff here are like adjusted for this... For an example, the toilet vase is larger, and with much more water. I think it's like this to fit better the giant asses, and the product of their use. Yes, because they eat a lot, the result at the toilet may not be small. It's incredible, they are feeding us almost every hour, and aways in large amounts of food. Not to mention that the food here is exact as some miths say: extreme fat! As an example, at the breakfast today, I had bacon with eggs and tender, and for lunch, a giant baked potato filled with some weird souces and meat. I confess it's very tasty, but I felt very full after these meals! Not to mention other thing we ate between the main meals... Today I took a cup full of MM's, to eat during the lectures, I can't stand eating more MM's...

That's all for today... I still have lot's of other things to write, but I will do it later. And I will also post here some pics we've been taking these days.
