Depois de muito trabalho, rolou um treinamento no Rio, que serviu um pouco pra relaxar, desestressar e curtir! A gente ficou num hotel muito show na Barra, de frente pra praia, com tudo o que tinha direito!
O treinamento era sobre gerenciamento de pessoas, liderança, motivação... essas coisas de RH. Mas foi muito bom, era super dinâmico e muito interessante, a gente aprendeu um monte! E é claro que durante a semana inteira rolou baladas todo dia, pra aproveitar bem a estada no Rio, fechando a semana com um show do Chiclete com Banana! Pena que uma semana passa rapidinho...

After lots of work, we had a training course in Rio de Janeiro, what was very good to relax, relief all the stress and have some fun! We stayed in a very good hotel in Barra (one of the best districts from Rio), in front of the beach, with everything we wanted!
The training course was about people management, leadership, motivation... lots of these kind of HR things. But it was very good, very dynamic and interesting. We learned a lot! And of course we went out every day from the week, to take advantage from staying in Rio de Janeiro, finishing with a concert of "Chiclete com Banana" ("Chewing Gun and Banana", it's a very famous band in Brazil). I'd like to have a longer week than just 7 days...
Esse fim de semana fomos para o Rio, para pegar uma balada... Sábado à noite fomos pra Nuth, na Barra, e foi bem legal, nos divertimos pra caramba! E no domingo, peguei o Thomás no aeroporto, e fomos almoçar no Porcão... almoço de patrão, como disse o Cadu... eheheh... Coloquei umas fotos pra animar esse post!

Last weekend we went to Rio de Janeiro, to have some fun... Saturday night we went to the Nuth, a very good night club. It was pretty cool, we had lots of fun! And on Sunday, I picked Thomás up in the airport, and we went for lunch at the Porcão, a very good steak house here in Brazil. It was a Bosses' Lunch, as Cadu said... ehehhe... I put some pics here to show you guys!
Essa semana consegui mais um recorde de horas acordado trabalhando... 92!!!! Eu sei que é difícil de acreditar, mas realmente aconteceu. Pra não dizer que não dormi nada, eu devo ter dado umas pescadinhas de 10 minutinho durante o trabalho, mas nada que pudesse descansar meu corpo, e principalmente a minha mente... Tá ficando foda isso aqui...

Last week I got one more record about awaken hours working... 92!!! I know that's difficult to believe, but it really happened. Just not to say that I haven't slept at all, I might have nodded for 10 minutes a few times during the job, but nothing that could give some rest to my body and specially to my mind... Things here are getting pretty tough...
Sem novidades, só muito trabalho e poucas folgas como sempre... Desde que eu comecei a escrever no blog, os fatos diferentes têm caído drasticamente, então decidi só postar algo realmente novo aqui (desde que eu tenha tempo, lógico...). Isso pode implicar em longos períodos sem novos posts, mas acho que o objetivo inicial deste blog foi atingido (que era de mostrar a vida na Schlumberger pra quem está do lado de fora).

This can imply on long periods without any new posts, but I think that the initial objective of this blog was achieved (which was showing the Schlumberger way of life to outsiders).

Nada muito diferente, mas é legal pegar experiência com clientes diferentes. Ahn, e outra coisa que aconteceu recentemente... Tirei o dente do ciso aqui em Macaé e só tive problemas (10 dias com dor!!!). Pra resolver a minha situação tive que ir tratar em São Paulo. Dentista aqui nunca mais!

Ahn, and another thing that happened recently... I removed my wisdom teeth here in Macaé, and got lots of trouble (10 days full of pain!!!). To solve it, I had to go to São Paulo. Denstist here never more!
Essa semana tirei dois dentes do ciso, e aproveitei pra ir pra Piracicaba, pra formatura do Matheus. Foi bem legal, mas deu saudades da minha formatura também... Bons tempos a época da faculdade...

Last week I removed two of my wisdom teeth, and then I spent a few days in Piracicaba, my home town, and I could attend to Matheus' Graduation Party. It was pretty cool, and it reminded me of my own Graduation Party... I miss the good times from university...
Voltando ao Brasil, nada de descanso, nem tive tempo de atualizar o Blog... Desde que cheguei, fiquei praticamente o tempo todo embarcado, só uns 5 ou 6 dias em terra em um mês e meio!!! E mais um recorde, 28 dias embarcado direto! Tou começando a pensar seriamente nas minhas férias... Pra lembrar de como estava bom em Las Vegas, um video de uma apresentaçãozinha em frente a um cassino lá.

Back to Brazil, no rest at all, I even didn't have enough time to update mu blog... Since I came back, I've been almost everyday offshore, I just had 5 or 6 days onshore in one month and a half!!! And one more record, 28 days offshore straight! I'm starting to think seriously about my vacations... To remember how fun it was in Vegas, a little video of a show in front of a casino there.
Dessa vez, o curso aqui nos EUA foi muito mais tranquilo, dá pra perceber pela foto... ehehhe... Deu tempo de sobra pra sair com a galera, descansar e se divertir. Um dia fomos numa dessas boates country, em que todo mundo fica dançando igualzinho na pista, até que foi legalzinho (mas depois de um tempo enjoa...). E claro, não podíamos deixar de comparecer no kart! Nesse dia eu tava com mais dois amigos meus do ITA, que também trabalham nessa empresa, e por coincidência estavam fazendo curso lá também, na mesma época que eu. Bons tempos...

This time, the course here in USA was much easier, you can realize that by the picture... ehehhe... We had lots of free time to go out, rest and have fun. One day we went to one country club, where everyone dances the very same steps on the dance floor, it was pretty funny (but it gets boring after a while...). And of course we had to go karting! At this day, I was with two friends from my university, that also work for this company, and by coincidence they were there attending to a training course too, at the same time as me. Good times...
No último dia em Las Vegas, a gente tentou ir na "Pool Party" (festa na piscina) no Hard Rock Cafe, mas não deu... Antes eu não pude entrar na boate porque não tinha sapatos, e dessa vez a galera não pôde entrar porque estavam usando calças, eu era o único de bermuda, e era obrigatório estar de bermuda pra entrar... ehehhe... Mas foi uma pena, porque pela espiadinha que eu dei, a festa tava bombando!!!
Depois disso, demos mais umas voltas pela Strip e pelos cassinos, e então fomos a uma outra apresentação do Circo de Soleil. Apesar de a outra ter sido melhor, essa aqui também foi espetacular! E dessa vez, como eu não estava tão perto do palco, consegui filmar um pouquinho, então tou colocando um videozinho aqui pra vocês terem uma idéia.
Saindo do Circo de Soleil, andamos de novo pela avenida e vimos uma apresentaçãozinha que tava rolando em frente a um dos cassinos, chamado "Treasure Island" (Ilha do Tesouro), que tinha um navio pirata na frente. Foi legalzinho, levando em conta que tava cheio de mulheres gostosas no navio... ehehhe... E depois disso, partimos de volta pra Tulsa, muito animador depois de um fim de semana como esse em Las Vegas.

In our last day in Las Vegas, we tried to go to the "Pool Party" at the Hard Rock Cafe, but we couldn't get in... Before, I couldn't get inside the night club because I wasn't wearing social shoes, and this time the guys couldn't get inside because they were wearing long pants, I was the only one wearing short pants, and it was mandatory to be able to get in... ehehhe... It really sucked, because as I could take a little look inside, the party was great!!!
After that, we took a look around the Strip and the casinos, and then we went to another Cirque du Soleil show. Despite the other one being better, this was still spetacular! And this time, as I wasn't so close to the stage, I could make some movies, then I'm posting one here so you can have an idea on how is it.
Leaving the Cirque du Soleil, we walked again on the avenue, and saw a little show that was going on in front of one casino, called "Treasure Island", which had a pirate ship in front of it. I was kind cool, specially because there were lots of hot chicks on it... ehehhe... And after that, we left, going back to Tulsa, very exciting after such weekend in Las Vegas.
Saímos pra dar uma volta pela Strip, e então fomos ao Bellagio, onde tava tendo o show "O" Cirque du Soleil, aquela apresentação aquática muito famosa do Circo de Soleil. Mas quando chegamos lá, os ingressos já estavam esgotados por uma semana. Se a gente quisesse, tinha que esperar pra ver se haveriam desistências na hora da apresentação. Então tivemos que esperar por 3 horas na fila, mas no fim das contas conseguimos ingressos pra lugares pertinho do palco! E o show foi excelente, a melhor apresentação que já vi na vida!!! Foi uma pena que eu não pude tirar fotos...
Depois do show, a gente tava afim de ir na balada. Mas como eu não tinha sapatos, fomos procurar em um shopping lá da strip. No caminho, achamos a loja da Playboy, mas não havia nada de mais, só roupas e acessórios (nenhuma coelhinha!!!)... Continuando ao procura por sapatos, é óbvio que só achei sapatos caríssimos (o mais barato era 150 dólares), e não era isso o que eu tava procurando só pra uma balada... Então fomos no Wal-Mart, e achei um sapato show por 25 dólares... ehehhe... Depois disso pudemos ir pra balada, e saindo da balada vimos o Clube da Playboy! Eu tava doido pra entrar lá, mas já tava fechando, então não deu nem pra ver... Fica pra uma próxima...

We went for a walk around the Strip, and then we went to the Bellagio, where there was the show "O" Cirque du Solei, that famous aquatic presentation from them. But when we got there, the tickets were all sold out until the next week. If we wanted, we would have to wait up to the show time, to check for any desistance. so we waited for 3 hours in the queue, but in the end fortunately we got tickets for seats very close to the stage! And the show was excellent, the best presentation I had ever seen in my life!!! It was a pity that I couldn't take pictures...
After the show, we wanted to go to a night club. But as I didn't have any social shoes, we went to look for some in a shopping mall on the Strip. On our way, we found the Playboy store, but it wasn't a big deal, just clothes and accessories (no bunnies at all!!!)... We kept looking for shoes, and of course I only found very expensive ones (the cheapest was 150 dollars), and that wasn't what I was looking for just for one night... Then we went to the Wal-Mart, and I found a very good pair of shoes for 25 dollars... ehehhe... After that we could go to the night club, and after leaving the night club, we saw the Playboy Club! I really wanted to go there, but it was closing by that time, so we couldn't check it out... Well, next time...
Como o curso tava tranquilo, o pessoal aqui resolveu aproveitar nosso fim de semana livre e ir pra Las Vegas! Tivemos de alugar um carro para ir de Tulsa até Oklahoma City, de onde pegamos o avião. Como eu era o único que podia dirigir aqui, fui dirigindo esse carro aí. Aqui cabe um comentário sobre dirigir nos EUA... é ridiculamente fácil! Primeiro, o câmbio é automático, e pra completar tem piloto automático que regula a velocidade, ou seja, não precisa nem acelerar. Outras coisas também são automáticas, como farol e limpador de pára-brisa, não precisa acionar. Segundo, o GPS te fala direitinho onde vc deve ir, não precisa nem ficar procurando. E pra completar, as estradas são totalmente retas!!! Fica difícil não ter sono dirigindo assim...
Enfim, chegamos por volta de uma da manhã, e ficamos no hotel Riviera. Daí saímos para dar uma volta pela noite de Las Vegas. Lá, todos os cassinos são na verdade hotéis com cassinos, teatros, casas de show, boates, restaurantes e outras coisas, tudo integrado. E todos ficam lado a lado numa grande avenida, conhecida como "Strip". A gente rodou pela avenida essa noite pra "conhecer o território", e nos prepararmos pro dia seguinte. Entramos em alguns cassinos, olhamos os shows que estariam disponíveis, e depois voltamos pro hotel, para dormir um pouco... eheheh...

Because our course was not that hard, the guys here decided to take our free weekend to go to Las Vegas! We had to rent a car to go from Tulsa to Oklahoma City, where we took the flight. As I was the only one who could drive here, I drove this car form the picture. And I'd like to say something about driving in USA... it's ridiculously easy!! First of all, it has automatic transmission, and also an automatic speed controller, so you don't need to step in the gas. Some other things are also automatic, like lights and windshield wiper, that we don't need to activate. Second, the GPS tells you the exact directions you need to go, so you don't have to keep looking for directions. And last, the highways are totally straight, just a very few curves!!! It's very hard to not be sleepy while driving like this...
In the end, we arrived there around 1 am, and stayed at Riviera hotel. Then we went for a walk in the Las Vegas night. There, all the casinos actually are hotels with casinos, theaters, show houses, night clubs, restaurants and other things, all integrated. And all of them are side by side, in a long avenue called "The Strip". We walked around this avenue tonight to "get to know the territory", and prepare ourselves for the next day. We entered some casinos, took a look on the shows that would be available, and then we came back to the hotel, to get a little sleep... ehehhe...
Aproveitei o embalo da viagem aos EUA pra ir visitar o Shridhar na Philadelphia, e passear um pouquinho por lá. Começamos o dia rodando pela Universidade da Pensilvânia, que é onde ele tava estudando. A arquitetura é muito bonita, tem muito cara de filme do Harry Potter (mesmo as construções mais novas).
Depois disso, fomos para o centro de visitantes, e pegamos um ônibus turístico que dá uma voltinha na cidade, e fomos para o museu de arte de Philadelphia. Não chegamos a entrar, pois a gente não tinha muito tempo, mas esse é o museu que fica em frente àquela escadaria do filme do "Rocky, o lutador", que ele sobe inteirinha durante o treinamento e depois fica pulando lá em cima. Tinha uma estátua do Rocky ao lado do museu, então aproveitamos pra tirar uma foto dela também.
Saindo do museu, demos uma volta pelo centro da cidade, e fomos almoçar numa espécie de mercado municipal, onde pudemos comer o famoso "Cheese Steak" (carne com queijo) da Philadelphia. Até que era gostoso, mas nada de extraordinário... eheheh... E ao sair do mercado, dei uma olhadinha de longe na Chinatown, o bairro chinês.
Fomos em direção ao Independence National Historical Park, um tipo de parque/praça com uns casarões históricos (um deles, o da nota de 100 dólares), onde aconteceram episódios importantes da independência dos EUA. Dentro dos casarões estavam expostos vários documentos, objetos e outras coisas relacionadas à independência. E na praça também havia um lugar especial para a exibição do Liberty Bell, aquele famoso sino rachado dos EUA.
Por fim, demos uma passeada pelo Pier, onde tava rolando um show ao vivo, e pudemos ver alguns barcos à vela e um pessoal passeando de jet-ski no rio... E esse foi o fim dos meus dias de folga aqui nos EUA, amanhã tou indo pra Tulsa, onde vou fazer o segundo curso da empresa.

As I was in USA, I took this opportunity to go to Philadelphia, to visit Shridhar, my friend from university, and walk around that city. We started our day taking a look at the University of Pennsilvania, where he was studying. It architecture is very beautiful, and it really looks like Harry Potter movies (even the newer buildings).
After that, we went to the Visitor Center, and took a touristic bus that rides people around the city, and then we went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. We didn't go in, because we didn't have much time, but in front of the museum are those huge stairs in from the movie "Rocky", that he goes up the entire stairs during his training, and then keeps jumping on the top of it. And there was an statue of Rocky at its side, so we could the a funny picture.
Then we took a walk around downtown, and went for lunch in a kind of city market, where we could eat the famous "Cheese Steak" from Philadelphia. Actually it was pretty good, but nothing like amazing... ehehe... And when we left the market, I took a quick look at the Chinatown.
In the afternoon, we went to the Independence National Historical Park, a place with some historical buildings (one of them is on the 100 dollars bill), where lots of important facts from USA independence took place. Inside the buildings there were some exhibitions with documents, objects and other things related to the independence. And at the park there was a special place for the exhibition of the Liberty Bell, that famous cracked bell.
In the end, we went to the pier, where there was a live show going on, and we could see some sailboats, and some guys riding jet-ski at the river... And that was the end of my days-off here in USA, tomorrow I'm going to Tulsa, where I'm taking the second training course from my company.
Eu e o Jonny tínhamos combinado de ir num tour pelo Bronx hoje de manhã, mas ontem ele saiu pra beber com uma galera, e pelo jeito ele passou a manhã inteira destruído na cama... ehehhe... No fim fui sozinho mesmo, mas tudo bem, pois me juntei a uma outra galea que também estava indo no tour.
Pois bem, o Bronx é conhecido como a parte mais perigosa de Nova York (como se fosse os morros do Rio de Janeiro), por isso não quis me arriscar indo sozinho para lá, e esperei o dia em que teria um tour com um guia saindo do albergue. Nós pegamos o metrô e fomos em direção à Yankees Station, onde fica o estádio dos Yankees, o maior time de beisebol de Nova York.
Após dar uma olhadinha no estádio (uma pena, mas não teve nenhum jogo dos Yakees nos dias que eu estava em Nova York), saímos andando pelo Bronx. Estando lá, pude perceber que não é tão perigoso assim como falam, tem cara de uma vizinhança de classe média normal (bem diferente das favelas no Brasil). Se essa for realmente a parte mais pobre de Nova York, dá pra vir morar aqui fácil fácil... Enfim, demos umas voltas e vimos a sub-prefeitura do Bronx, escolas, praças, e escutamos um pouco sobre a história desse bairro.
Como meu dia ia ser curto hoje, depois do Bronx eu resolvi dar uma passadinha rápida pelo zoológico do Central Park. É pequeno, mas até que é bem legalzinho, tem vários animais. Só que dava bastante dó deles, em vê-los presos em lugares com pouco espaço, e quente pra caramba (especialmente pro urso polar)... Mas enfim...
Depois disso, voltei pro albergue para pegar minhas coisas e fui pra rodoviária, onde tomei o ônibus pra Philadelphia (detalhe: ônibus interestadual no Brasil é muito melhor!). No metrô, gravei um videozinho de uns caras que estavam cantando pra tentar ganhar algum dinheiro, o que é algo comum em Nova York. Aliás, vou aproveitar pra deixar um comentário sobre o metrô de Nova York. O fato de ter várias linhas e milhões de estações realmente é muito conveniente, dá pra ir praticamente pra qualquer lugar de metrô. Porém a qualidade dos trens e estações é bem inferior ao metrô de São Paulo...

Me and Jonny had scheduled a tour to Bronx today morning, but yesterday he went out for drinking with some guys, and probably he spent the whole morning passed out completely drunk at his bed... ehehhe... In the end, it was only me, but that was ok, because I joined some other guys who were taking the tour as well.
Well, Bronx is know as the most dangerous part of New York city (like the slums in Rio de Janeiro), so I didn't wanted to take the risk by going by myself there, so I waited for the day when there would be a guided tour from the hostel. We took the subway and went to the Yankees Station, where the Yankees stadium is. The Yankees are the famous baseball team from New York.
After a quick look at the stadium (I was not lucky, because there were no Yankees matches while I was in New York), we went to take a walk around Bronx. Being there, I could see that it's not that dangerous as I was told, it looks like a medium class neighborhood (very different from slums in Rio de Janeiro). If this is the poorest part of New York, it's pretty easy to live here... Anyway, we walked a little more and could see the Bronx "city hall" (it kinda has its own mayor), schools, squares and also we could listen a little about Bronx history.
Because I would have a short day today, after Bronx I decided to take a quick look at the Central Park Zoo. It's small, but it's kinda cool, with lots of animals. But I felt pitty for them, for being kept in small spaces, and also for the hot weather (specially for the polar bear)... Well...
Then I came back to the hostel to get my luggage, and went to the bus station, where I could get the bus to Philadelphia (note: interstate buses in Brazil ar much better!). In the subway, I recorded some guys singing trying to get some money, what is very common in New York. By the way, I will take this chance to talk a little about New York's subway. Having lots of lines and hundreds of subway stations is really convenient, it's possible to go almost everywhere by subway. But the quality of trains and stations is much worse than the subway in São Paulo...
