Chega de folga - Enough of days-off

Quando eu pedi dez dias de folga, já sabia que não iria conseguir tirar tudo isso. E realmente aconteceu. Assim que eu voltei de Bauru (onde foi a formatura do Fabinho), meu chefe me ligou, dizendo que eu teria que embarcar. Tive que ir de Piracicaba direto pra Itanhaém, pois a plataforma está na Bacia de Santos. Chegando aqui, embarque atrasou, e por enquanto estamos na pousada, sem fazer nada. Então aproveitamos pra passear um pouquinho pela cidade. Tá tudo bem morto, já que a temporada acabou, mas dá pra ver que é uma cidadezinha bem pequena, com contruções antigas e várias igrejinhas. Pra passear em temporada deve ser legal, parece ter vários pontos de agito, quando tem muita gente.

When I asked for ten days-off, I already knew that I wouldn't have all of this. And it really happened. As soon as I got back from Bauru (where was Fabinho's graduation party), my boss called me, telling that I would have to go offshore. I had to go from Piracicaba (my hometown) straight to Itanhaém (at the coast of São Paulo state), because the platform is close to this city. When I got here, I found out that the embark was delayed, so we are staying at a hostel, doing absolutely nothing. So, we are using this free time to walk around the city. It's really dead, because the season of "going to the beach" is over, but we can see that it's a very small town, with old buildings and lots of little churches. During the "hot season" it must be cool, with lot's of good spots for crowdy parties.

Formatura do Fabinho - Fabinho's Graduation Party

Depois de muita briga, consegui uma brecha pra tirar folga e ir na formatura do Fabinho. Foi muito show, o ambiente era bem legal, com decoração e luzes muito loucas, bem psicodélicas! A banda também era muito boa, e foi muito legal reunir a galera pra curtir. Depois a gente passou o dia numa chácara lá, com churrasco e piscina, muito bom pra relaxar!

After a lot of discussion, I could get a break and get some days off to go to Fabinho's graduation party. It was great, the place was pretty cool, with some light and decoration really crazy, with a psycho look! The band was also really good, and was great to gather everyone together to enjoy the party. After that, we spend the day in a kind of country house, with barbecue and swimming pool, very good to relax!

Trânsito em São Paulo - Traffic in São Paulo

Sempre ouvi dizer que o trânsito em São Paulo é horrível, mas como dirigi pouco por lá, nunca vivenciei isso de fato. Pois bem, hoje eu passei a concordar com isso. Fui para um teatro onde o meu pai estava preparando as coisas para a peça que ele iria estrear, e ele me disse para colocar o carro numa outra rua, mais próxima, por segurança. Como estava tendo feira na rua lateral ao teatro, eu teria que dar a volta no bairro para chegar lá. Gastei uma hora inteira tentando rodar o bairro, e não consegui, sempre voltando ao mesmo ponto de partida!!! E não foi só por causa da quantidade de carros, mas principalmente pela má disposição das ruas, que não seguem uma sequência lógica. Realmente, o trânsito de São Paulo é bem caótico...

I've aways heard that São Paulo's traffic is terrible, but as I had driven there just a few times, I had never seen it in reality. Well, today I started to agree with this statement. I went to a theater where my father was preparing stuff for the play he was going to present, and he told me to park my car in a street closer to the theater, because it was safer. There was a free market on the street at the side of the theater, so I had to drive around the district to get there. But I spent one entire hour trying to drive around it, and I coudn't!!! And the main reason wasn't the big amount of cars, but the bad shape of the streets, that didn't follow any logic pattern. Sao Paulo's traffic is really chaotic...

Trabalho pra caralho - Work-a-shit

Como dizem por aqui, a chapa tá quente... Muitos trabalhos pra fazer, com pouquíssimo equipamento e o principal: pessoal. Ou seja, a gente aqui vai ter que se matar de trabalhar! Mas ainda assim, eu consegui os dias de folga pra ir na formatura do Fabinho, que vai ser nesse fim de semana. Espero que depois disso, eu consigo descansar um pouquinho...
Sobre a figura, tem que saber inglês pra entender a piada...

As they say here, "the grill is hot"... Lots of jobs to do, with so less equipment and the most important thing: people. So, we will have to work to death here! But even with all of this, I could get some days off to go to Fabinho's graduation party, that will be during this weekend. I hope I still can get some rest after this...

Meu carro novo - My new car

Peguei meu carro novo, finalmente! É um Astra Sport. Branco não é a minha cor favorita, mas tudo bem, o carro é bem show! Tou postando aqui uma foto do meu carro pra vocês verem (não é exatamente o MEU carro, mas é igualzinho).

I got my new car, finally! It's an Astra Sport. White is not my best color, but it's all right, this car is pretty nice. Here is a picture of my new car (it's not exactly MY car, but pretty much the same).

Jantar Russo - Russian Dinner

Essa semana o Maxim, um engenheiro russo que trabalha aqui e um dos meus tutores, fez um jantar tipicamente russo. Isso se chama Bosch, e é como se fosse um sopão, cheio de legumes e carne. Ele também adicionou alguns queijos, frios e pão para comer à parte. Pra mim, que não gosto de legumes, tava bem gostoso!

This week Maxim cooked a typical russian dinner for us. He is a russian engineer who works here, and also one of my tutors. The dish is called Bosch, and it's like a big soup, with lots of vegetables and some meat. He also prepared some cheese and ham with bread to eat in separate. For me, who doesn't like vegetables that much, it was pretty good!

Vôo de helicóptero - Helicopter flight

Durante a volta de um dos desembarques, pude tirar algumas fotos no navio e durante o vôo de helicóptero. Não ficaram muito boas, pois estava usando o meu celular. Mas mesmo assim, dá pra ter uma idéia de como é o visual lá de cima... =)
Nesses dias, não tenho tido muitas novidades. Apenas muito trabalho e pouca diversão. A Dani veio aqui no último fim de semana, o que foi muito bom pra mim! Deu uma desestressada, e agora dá pra continuar a trabalhar mais um pouco. Tou com folgas marcadas pro início de março, mas como sempre, aqui não dá pra contar com as folgas até que você as tenha tirado...

While I was coming back from one of my embarks, I could take some pictures from the ship, and during the flight. They are not that good, because I was using my mobile phone, but you still can have an idea about how is the view from up there... =)
During these days, I haven't had any news. Just lots of work an too little fun. Dani came here last weekend, what was very good for me! I could relieve my stress, and now I can keep working for a little while. I've scheduled some days-off for the beginning of march, but as aways, here we can't count on the days-off until you really have taken them...

Um helicóptero por um banho - A helicopter for a shower

Nessa vida louca que eu levo, às vezes acontecem umas coisas engraçadas... Ontem fiquei sabendo que ia embarcar hoje... Até aí, normal. Cheguei em casa por volta de 11 da noite, e não tinha água. Torci para chegar água até a hora que eu acordasse pra embarcar, mas que nada! Fui sem banho mesmo (sim, bem fedido...), e só tomei banho na plataforma. Depois de algumas horas lá, disseram que não precisavam mais da gente, e mandaram a gente de volta a terra. No fim das contas, já que não tinha água em casa, tive que embarcar pra tomar um banho... ehehhe...

In this crazy life that I lead, sometimes fun things happen... Yesterday I was told that I would go offshore today... So far, that's normal. I arrived home around 11 pm, and there was no water. I was hoping that we would have water in the morning, so I could have a shower after wake up, before leaving to embark. But nothing! So I had to go with no shower (yes, stinking...), and I could have a shower only when I got at the platform. After some hours, they told me that they wouldn't need us anymore, and sent us back onshore. In the end, as I didn't have water at home, I had to go offshore to take a shower... eheheh...

Formatura na ESALQ - ESALQ Graduation Ceremony

Esqueci de comentar aqui... Semana retrasada consegui dar uma fugidinha pra ir na formatura do Clayton, na ESALQ (Campus da USP em Piracicaba), e depois rolou a festa de aniversário dele. Bom pra desestressar um pouquinho... =D

I forgot to comment here... Two weeks ago I could escape from work a little bit and go to Clayton's graduation ceremony, at ESALQ (it's an agronomy university here in Brasil, in my hometown), and after this we had his birthday party. It was good to get away from stress a little bit... =D
