Sim, a água gira ao contrário - Yes, water goes counter-clockwise

Esse foi o meu primeiro dia nos EUA. A viagem foi tranqüila, porém cansativa... Mas até que o avião era legal, tinha vários tipos de entretenimento, como filmes, seriados e até mesmo uns games bobinhos. Chegamos por volta de 8 da manhã no hotel. Tomamos café, e fomos aproveitar nosso único dia livre aqui, dando uma de turistas (dormir é pros fracos... eheheh).

Decidimos por visitar o Johnson Space Center, ou seja, a sede da NASA aqui em Houston (isso mesmo, aquela da famosa frase "Houston, we have a problem!"). Não era nada muito empolgante, mas sim interessante. Pudemos ver a construção da Space Shuttle e da International Space Station, realmente é muito legal do ponto de vista "engenheirístico". Além disso, havia várias exposições, explicando diversas coisas sobre a história da NASA e sobre os programas espaciais. Eu até mesmo pude tocar numa pedra da lua! Eheheh... E tinha também vários brinquedos científicos, mas puramente para entretenimento dos turistas.

Depois de passar o dia todo lá, à noite fomos assistir a um jogo da NBA. Houston é a casa dos Rockets, e pelo jeito eles não estão indo muito bem nesta temporada... O ginásio estava meio vazio, e ele perdeu o jogo. Mas mesmo assim, valeu a pena, pois é muito diferente da TV! O jogo em si é um grande show, cheio de coisas adicionais, como efeitos de som e luz, cheerleaders (muito boas, por sinal) e apresentadores que ficam falando e fazendo algumas besteiras durante os intervalos. E mesmo assim, o decorrer do jogo também é diferente... Eu nunca havia reparado isso, mas só há torcida do time da casa (coitado do visitante...), e o narrador praticamente não narra o jogo, mas sim fica motivando e incitando a torcida, torcendo também para o time da casa. É incrível como o time visitante é totalmente vaiado e desmotivado a jogar... A infra-estrutura, por sua vez, deixaria qualquer estádio de futebol do Brasil no chinelo. Tem painéis eletrônicos e telões pra tudo quanto é lado, sem falar no som excelente, nas cadeiras acolchoadas e nos serviços, como lanchonetes e banheiros. Tudo de primeira! Ah, e outra coisa que eu achei estranho também foi que eles tocam várias músicas durante o jogo, trocando a cada jogada. Fiquei até imaginando se os americanos seriam uma torcida animada se não houvessem todas essas coisas, como num estádio brasileiro... Eles praticamente só faziam as coisas porque o narrador agitava, senão ficavam sentadinhos quietinhos nas cadeiras...

Estar em outro país está fazendo notar várias coisas diferentes. Podem parecer bestas, mas a gente acaba notando, e achando estranho. E a primeira coisa que eu notei aqui é que realmente a água da privada gira pro outro lado (agora vocês entenderam o título deste post, né?). Alías, a grande maioria dos americanos são muito gordos! E as coisas já são mais ou menos preparadas pra isso... Um exemplo é que a privada é maior e com bem mais água. Suponho que seja pra comportar melhor as bundas gigantes, e o produto de sua utilização. Sim, pois, do jeito que eles comem, o resultado no banheiro não deve ser pequeno. É incrível, eles nos estão dando comida praticamente a cada hora, e sempre em grande quantidade. Sem falar que as comidas aqui são exatamente como as lendas dizem: altamente gordurosas! Hoje, por exemplo, comi ovos com bacon e tender no café da manhã, e uma batata gigante assada, recheada com uns molhos estranhos e carne. Não nego que é muito gostoso, mas eu fiquei muito estufado depois destas refeições! Sem falar nas refeições fora de hora... Levei um copo de 300ml cheinho de MM's para comer durante as palestras, não aguento mais comer MM's...

Por hoje é só... Ainda estou com muitas outras coisas para escrever, mas vou deixar pra depois. E depois também vou colocar umas fotos que a gente já tirou.

This was my first day in USA. The flight was calm, but tiring... The airplane was nice, and had lot's of kinds of entertainment, like movies, series and even some silly games. We arrived at the hotel by around 8 AM. Then we had breakfast, and took our only free day to hang around as tourists (to sleep is just for weak people... eheheh).

We decided in visiting Johnson Space Center, NASA site in Houston (you're right, that one from the famous sentence "Houston, we have a problem!"). It wasn't so exciting, but interesting. We could see how the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station are build, it's really cool from an "engineering" point of view. Besides, there were many exhibitions, explaining many things about the history of NASA and about the space programs. I could even touch a rock from the moon! Eheheh... And there were also some cientific toys, just one more kind of entertainment for tourists.

After spending all day long there, we went to watch an NBA match during night. Houston is The Rockets' home, and as I could see, they really aren't doing a good season... The arena was kind of empty, and they lost the game. But even with this, it has worth the visit, because it's very different from the TV. The match is indeed a big show, full of aditional things, like sound and light effects, cheerleaders (very good, by the way) and entertainers, who keep saying and doing some silly things during the breaks. And the game is also different... I have never noticed this, but there is only supporters from the home team (poor visitor...), and the guy who's supposed to comment the match doesn't do this, but motivates the people on the arena, also supporting the home team. It's incredible how the visitors are not motivated to play, by the people shouts and gestures. The structure of the game, in the other way, would turn any brazilian stadium into a bathtub. There are lots of electronic displays and giant screens everywhere, not to mention the excellent sound, the very confortable chairs, and the services, like toilets and fast food. Everything is great! Ah, and other thing I found weird is the fact that they play various music themes during the game, at each small part of the game. I was wondering if american people would be an excited support for their team if they didn't have all this stuff, like in a brazilian stadium... They just was shouting and supporting their team because of the motivation of the entertainers, otherwise I think they would remain sit all quiet in their chairs...

To be in another country is making me notice many different things. They can seem silly, but they I notice them, and fell strange about them. The first thing I noticed here is that is really true that the water goes counter-clockwise in the toilets (now you could understand the title of this post, don't you?). And also, the most part of american people is very fat! And stuff here are like adjusted for this... For an example, the toilet vase is larger, and with much more water. I think it's like this to fit better the giant asses, and the product of their use. Yes, because they eat a lot, the result at the toilet may not be small. It's incredible, they are feeding us almost every hour, and aways in large amounts of food. Not to mention that the food here is exact as some miths say: extreme fat! As an example, at the breakfast today, I had bacon with eggs and tender, and for lunch, a giant baked potato filled with some weird souces and meat. I confess it's very tasty, but I felt very full after these meals! Not to mention other thing we ate between the main meals... Today I took a cup full of MM's, to eat during the lectures, I can't stand eating more MM's...
