China day 1

Depois de umas 40 horas em trânsito, finalmente cheguei em Pequim. A cidade é bem grande, com ares bem modernos e construções bem ostensivas. Mas apesar de falarem que a cidade está pronta para as olimpíadas, daqui ainda parece que a cidade inteira está em construção!

Assim que cheguei, resolvi sair para almoçar e dar uma volta por perto do hotel. Pra conseguir pedir o almoço já foi a primeira aventura, já que a maioria dos chineses não fala inglês. Mas com um pouco de jeitinho, e muita mímica, conseguimos almoçar. Dando uma volta pelo bairro, fomos para a Universidade de Tsinghua (onde fica um parque tecnológico com várias empresas como Google, Microsoft e Sun). O campus é muito bonito, e tinha muita gente passeando por lá pra aproveitar o domingo de sol. Uma coisa que me chamou bastante a atenção foi umas florzinhas que se soltam de uma árvore comum daqui, e que ficam voando com o vento, fazendo parecer que está nevando, bem bonito!

After around 40 hours traveling, I finally arrived in Beijing. The city is very big, looking very modern and with very fancy buildings. But despite it's being told to be ready for the Olympics, from here it looks like the entire city is under construction!

Right after arriving, I decided to go out for lunch and take a walk around the hotel. To be able to order the lunch was the first adventure, since most chinese people don't speak English. After some little tricks, and lots of mimics, we could get lunch. Taking a walk around the place, we went to the Tsinghua University (where there is a technological park, with lots of companies like Google, Microsoft and Sun). The campus is very beautiful, and there were lots of people walking around during the sunny Sunday. One thing that we could notice was some little flowers that get off from common trees around here and fly around, being carried by the wind. It looks like it's snowing, very beautiful!
