Today we could play around with radiation... We learned some safety procedures and stuff like that to handle radioactive sources. Depending on how you do things, it could kill on a few hours... It's normal. I'm posting some pics here so you can see how I was having so much fun! =D
Finalmente pude assistir um jogo de baseball aqui. Era tipo um jogo de várzea, o time daqui (Tulsa Drillers) é como se fosse de terceira divisão... ehehhe... Apesar do jogo ser bem paradão, foi legal ver como é. Tou colocando aqui algumas fotos, e um vídeo de lá.
À noite a gente fez um churrasco aqui, compraram uns bifes gigantes, de 1 quilo cada. Um pra cada pessoa!!! Eu não comi nem metade do meu, acabei dividindo com alguém. Sem contar que tinha também hambúrguer e cachorro quente, pra servir de aperitivo... O pessoal aqui come demais! Também tirei uma foto do Hebraim, um egípcio, fumando a "shisha". É essa garrafinha, em que eles usam água como filtro para o fumo. NUnca tinha visto uma dessas.
Tou sugado aqui... É verão e tá quente, mas mesmo assim eu tenho q ficar levando blusa pra todo lugar. Os americanos são malucos por ar condicionado, sempre ligam no máximo, fica muito frio em qualquer lugar! É como se fosse inverno no meio do verão... =P

Finally I could watcha baseball game here. It was kinda a low rate game, the local team (Tulsa Drillers) is like a second division game... heheheh... Despite this game be very slow, it was nice to check it out. I'm posting here some pics, and a video from there.
At night, we had a barbecue party! They bought some giant steaks, like 1 kilo each. One for each person!!! I coudn't eat not even half of mine, and I ended up sharing with someone else. And we also had hamburgers and hot-dogs, ans appetizers.. People here eat too much! I also took a picture of Hebraim, an Egiptian, smoking his "shisha". It's this little bottle, on which they use water to filter the tobacco. I've never seen one of these before.
I'm getting pissed off here... It's summer, and it's hot, but even though I have to carry my jacket everywhere. American people are crazy about air conditioners, aways turn it on at the minimum temperature, it's aways very cold everywhere! It's like it's winter during summer... =P
Cheguei aqui pra trabalhar às 5:30 da manhã... de ontem! Acabei o trabalho hoje às 7 da manhã, e vim assistir aos jogos da copa. Agora vai começar o jogo do Brasil, óbvio que eu não vou dormir ainda!!! Tenho muito tempo pra dormir depois!
Esses dias foram bem corridos, quase não tive tempo pra nada... Mas em compensação a copa aqui tá divertida aqui, com pessoas de vários países. Hoje os franceses estavam sofrendo pra caramba com o jogo contra a Suíca, foi muito engraçado!

I arrived here for working at 5:30 in the morning... yesterday! And I finished today at 7 in the morning, and I came to watch the World Cup matches. Now Brazil's match is starting, of course I'm not going to sleep yet!!! I can sleep a lot later!
These days have been tough, I almost haven't any free time... But in the other hand the World Cup is funny here, with people from different countries. Today the french guys were suffering a lot because their match against Switzerland, was really funny!
Ontem e hoje, nada de novidades... Só aulas e estudos... Ahn, pensando bem, uma novidade sim... Não tive prova... ehehhe
Eu tava meio chateado aqui, achando que ia ser muito chato estar longe do Brasil na copa do mundo... Além de os americanos não se importarem muito com a copa, eu tenho que ficar me virando com os meus horários pra assistir os jogos. Fora que tem poucos brasileiros aqui, então não dá pra fazer aquela farra costumeira... Mas hoje eu vi uma vantagem de estar aqui. Como aqui tem gente de todo canto do mundo, sempre tem alguém pra zoar depois de um jogo... eheheh

Yesterday and today, no news... Only classes and study... Hm, thinking again, yes, there are news... I didn't have test... eheheh
I was kinda sad here, thinking that would be really boring to be out of Brazil during the World Cup... First of all, americans don't care about it. Also, I aways have to find a way to arrange my schedules to be able to watch the games. Besides, there is just a few brazilians here, so we can't party as usual... But today I found an advantage of being here. As there is people from all over the world, there will be aways someone who you can laugh at after a game... ehehhe

Mais uma prova, mais uma nota: 8,2. Até que foi bom, pra depois de 3 dias de descanso. Depois de um dia de aula normal, a gente foi jantar numa churrascaria brasileira. Foi muito legal! Pude matar a saudade de pão de queijo e guaraná, além é claro de comida feita com jeitinho brasileiro. Aliás, o dono e alguns garçons eram brasileiros também, o que ajudou a me sentir em casa, pude conversar em português. E tava até tocando axé! Tou com saudades de casa... =D

One more test, one more mark: 82%. It was quite good after 3 days off. After a normal class day, we went to have dinner at a brazilian steak house. It was great! I could have cheese bread and guaraná (typical soft drink from Brazil), and also food with an special brazilian taste. Moreover, the owner and some waiters were brazilian too, what made me feel like home, because I could talk in portuguese. And there wae also axé (a brazilian rhythm)! I miss home... =D

Hoje não fizemos nada especial, só voltamos pra casa... Estudei um pouco pra prova de amanhã, mas não muito, pois é a avaliação de meio do curso, e cai tudo. Então se eu não tiver aprendido antes, não vai ser em uma noite que vou aprender... =D

Today we didn't do anything special, just came back home... I studied a little bit for tomorrow's test, but not that much, because it's a mid-term test, and it will be about all subjects. So, if I haven't learn anything so far, I won't learn in just one night... =D

Hoje o dia foi quase inteiro legal. A gente alugou um barco, e fomos rodar pelo lago, fazendo uma espécie de "bóia-ski". Coloquei um videozinho de mim na bóia, dá pra vocês verem eu pagando pau pra subir na bóia, um pouquinho andando e depois eu caindo... eheheh
As coisas tavam indo bem, até que o Walter caiu do barco e quebrou o braço... Não foi muito grave, mas eu me senti culpado, porque eu tava dirigindo o barco na hora que ele caiu. Tivemos que voltar e levar ele pro hospital. E lá eu descobri que, por incrível que pareça, o sistema de saúde brasileiro é melhor que o americano (não no sentido de avanço médico, mas no sentido de prestação de serviços). Não existem hospitais públicos, e se você não tem plano de saúde, não existe meio de se tratar. O máximo que eles podem fazer, se você não tem dinheiro pra pagar, é dar atendimento emergencial, ou seja, se você estiver quase morto. Mas se você tiver uma dor de garganta, por exemplo, não tem como se tratar... Achei bizarro isso. E ainda assim, o Walter teve que pagar 500 dólares pelo atendimento, e teve que esperar cerca de 4 horas pra ser atendido!!!

Today the day was almost all good. We rented a boat, and went to the middle of the lake, to do some kind of "skiing with a float". I put here a small video of me in the float, you can see me having a hard time to get on it, then skiing a little bit, and then falling... eheheh...
Things were doing good, until Walter fell from the boat and broke his arm... Wasn't that serious, but I felt bad because I was driving the boat when he fell. We had to go back and take him to the hospital. And there I figured out that, even if it seems weird, the brazilian health system is better that the american one (not in terms of medical progress, but in terms of service). There are no public hospitals here, and if you don't have an insurance plan, there is no way you can be treated. The most they can do, if you don't have money to pay, is to give you some emergency treatment, like if you are almost dying. But if you have something like a hurting throat, for an example, you can't receive treatment... It's simply bizarre! And even though, Walter had to pay 500 dollars to be treated, and had to wait like 4 hours!!!

Finalmente ganhamos uns dias de folga! Três dias inteirinhos pra descansar e se divertir um pouco. Escolhemos vir pra um resort, que fica num lago na fronteira do Texas com Oklahoma, daí o nome de Lago Texoma (Sacou? É, os americanos têm bastante criatividade pra nomes...).
O problema é que nossos dias de folga caíram num domingo, segunda e terça feira... Chegamos aqui e encontramos um monte de velhos, e algumas famílias com criançada. Nada contra, mas eu gostaria de ver gente da minha idade também. Sem contar que todos os bares e outros lugares legais estão fechados, por ter pouca gente aqui... =(
No caminho, paramos no supermercado pra comprar coisas pra esses dias, e vimos uma calcinha com uma caveira de pirata. Óbvio que eu não resisti em tirar uma foto... eheheh... Aí o Christophe ficou com inveja e também quis tirar uma foto engraçada.
No resort, passamos o dia na piscina e depois fizemos churrasco (na verdade, hambúrgueres e cachorros-quente), e tái o John na churrasqueira, dando uma de paizão pra galera.

Finally some days off! Three entire days to rest and have a little fun. We chose to come to a resort, in a lake right in the border between Texas and Oklahoma, so its name is Lake Texoma (Got it? I know, americans have such creativity...).
Our problem is that our days off are on a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday... When we arrived here and found lots of old people and some families with kids. Nothing against it, but I also would like to see some people from my age. Another bad thing is that all bars and places like this were closed, because there is too little people here... =(
On our way, we dropped by a supermarket to buy some stuff for these days, and we saw some panties with a pirate skull on it. Of course I couldn't resist and I took a picture... ehehhe... Then Christophe was envious and also wanted to take a funny picture.
At the resort, we spent the day at the pool, and after that we cooked some barbecue (actually, hamburguers and hot-dogs), and there is John and the griller, being everyone's dad.
Hoje foi um dia bom... Tirei 9,5 na prova de hoje, em que só 6 pessoas da classe passaram, de um total de 16. Depois rolou a avaliação do meio do curso, eu eu me saí bem, os instrutores fizeram bons comentários a meu respeito, e eu fiquei muito contente com isso! E pra completar, tava numa loja conversando com o vendedor, e ele achou que eu era americano! Ou seja, meu inglês tá melhorando, ele não achou que eu fosse estrangeiro!!! =D
Lembram daquele ninho que eu tirei uma foto? Então, quando cheguei em casa, vi o ninho, e vi que o filhotinho já nasceu e tá até grandinho... Então tirei outra foto pra vocês verem, olha que bonitinho! Ehehe...

Today was a good day... I got 95% on the test, where only 6 ou 16 people could pass. After this, we had our mid-term appraisal, and I did well, the instructors made good comments about me, and I was very happy with this! And to finish, I was in a store talking to the seller, and he thought I was american! I mean, my English is getting better, he didn't realize that I was a foreigner!!! =D
Do you remember about that picture of a nest? So, when I arrived home, I saw it, and the little bird had been born, and it's even had grown up... So I took a picture to show you... How cute! Ehehe...
Hoje eu tava vendo TV, e vi um programa muito inútil... Era tipo um concurso de crianças entre 12 e 14 anos, que tinham que soletrar umas palavras impossíveis, nem mesmo os americanos aqui conheciam as palavras... E o pior é que elas acertavam as mais esdrúxulas! Vai entender esses americanos...

Today I was watching TV, and I saw a very stupid show... It was a kind of contest, where some kids around 12 to 14 years old were supposed to spell some impossible words, what even the americans didn't know their meaning... And those kids could get right the most freak ones! I really don't understand american people...
