Quarto dia em Nova York - New York day four

Hoje começamos o passeio pelo Lincoln Center, uma espécie de centro cultural, com vários teatros e exposições. Mas como fomos de manhã, não tava rolando nada de especial, então só tiramos algumas fotos. Depois disso o Jonny quis dar uma volta pela Greenwich Village, que ele tinha ouvido dizer que era legal. Tinha vários barzinhos por lá, e uma arquitetura bem similar à inglesa, mas acho que ali devia ser programa para a noite, pois não tinha nada de mais... Daí demos uma paradinha na Washington Square, que era ali perto, mas também não tinha nada de mais, era só uma pracinha. O legal é que o povo de Nova York tem o costume de ficar entrando nas fontes e chafarizes quando tá muito quente, então tinha várias criancinhas brincando na fonte.

Depois seguimos para a ponte do Brooklin. No caminho, vimos a Court House (tipo um fórum), e tiramos uma foto com uma Big Apple (a grande maçã, como é chamada Nova York). A ponte do Brooklin é bem bonita, e foi a primeira ponte suspensa de Nova York. Dela dá pra ter uma boa vista da ilha de Manhattan, e também do Brooklin, é claro. Atravessamos ela todinha (uma bela caminhada, dêem uma olhadinha no video), e depois de um passeio pelo Brooklin, almoçamos por lá mesmo.


Em seguida, fomos para o Grand Central Terminal, um terminal central de linhas de metrô gigante! Ele também é uma espécie de mercado central da cidade. É bem bonito por dentro, amplo e espaçoso, e tem aquele relógio famoso bem no meio que sempre aparece em filmes.



Saindo do Grand Central Terminal, passamos pelo prédio da Chrysler (outro arranha-céu de Nova York), e fomos para a sede das Nações Unidas. Na faxada do prédio há bandeiras de todos os países da ONU, e no caminho de entrada há algumas esculturas simbolizando a paz, como aquele famoso revólver com um nó. Dentro há várias fotos de missões realizadas pela ONU, e algumas outras relíquias, como uma bandeira rasgada em um bombardeio nas missões do Iraque. Saindo do prédio, vimos os jardim, que também é bem amplo e muito bonito!

Por fim, a Nina quis voltar ao Ground Zero pra procurar um memorial em homenagem as vítimas do World Trade Center. A gente rodou um monte por lá, mas no fim não achamos o tal memorial... Então tiramos algumas fotos e rodamos pelo Centro Financeiro em volta do Ground Zero, e vimos a maquete de como ficará a construção no lugar do WTC (a foto não tá muito boa, mas dá pra ter uma idéia...). Na volta, pegamos uma chuvona na rua, e chegamos ensopados no metrô. O jeito foi voltar pro albergue pra tomar um banho quentinho e descansar... ehehhe...

Today we started our jorney going to the Lincoln Center, a kind of cultural center, with lots of theathers and exhibitions. But as we went there during the morning, there wasn't anything special, so we could just take some pictures. After that, Jonny wanted to go to the Greenwich Village, because he had heard it was cool. There were lots of bars and pubs around there, and it architecture was very similar to the english one, but I think that it's a place to go at night, because there was
nothing special going on... Then we took a little break at the Washington Square, what was nearby, but also wasn't that much, just a normal little square. But an interesting thing is that people from New York usually go inside the fontains springs, specially when it's really hot weather, so there were lots of kids playing inside the fontain.

After that we headed to the Brooklin Bridge. On our way, we saw the Court House, and took a picture with the Big Apple (that's how New York is called). The Brooklin Bridge is very beautiful, and it was the first suspended bridge built in New York. We can get a good view of Manhattan from there, and also of the Brooklin, of course. We crossed the entire bridge (a long walking, take a look at the video), and after walking around the Brooklin we had lunch there.


Continuing our walk, we went to the Grand Central Terminal, where most of the subway lines get together. It's huge! And it's also a kind of city central market. It's very beautiful inside, large and wide, and has that famous clock right in the middle of the station, that is aways showed in some movies.

Leaving the Grand Central Terminal, we dropped by the Chrysler building (another New York's sky-scraper), and then we went to the United Nations building. In front of the building there are flags from all the countries that are participants of the Organization, and on the way to the entrance there are some sculptures symbolizing peace, like that famous gun with a knot. Inside the building there were lots of pictures of missions accomplished by the Organization, and some other relics, like a flag that was ripped in a bomb attack during a mission in Iraq. On our way, we could see the gardens, which are vey wide and beautiful.

Last, Nina wanted to go back to the Ground Zero to look for a memorial in honor of the victims from the attack to the World Trade Center. We walked a lot around there, but in the end we couldn't find it... So we took some pictures and walked though the Finantial Center around the Ground Zero, and we could see the model of the future buildings being built on the place it was the WTC (the picture is not so good, but we can have an idea...). On our way back, we had a heavy rain, so we got to the subway station completely wet. Then we could just think about going back to the hostel to take a hot shower and rest... ehehhe...
