Tava embarcado, desembarquei dia 26 pra embarcar dia 27... Aí cancelaram, e me mandaram pra Vitória pra embarcar dia 28. Agora resolveram trocar e me mandar de volta a Macaé pra embarcar lá, não sei quando... Virei bola de ping-pong...

I was offshore, came back on 26th to go offshore again on 27th... Then it was cancelled, and they sent me to Vitória, to go offshore on 28th. Now they changed their mind, and are sending me back to Macaé, to go offshore someday... I've turned into a table tennis ball...

Feliz Natal embarcado - Merry offshore Christmas

E eu tava feliz porque ia passar o Natal em casa, com namorada, amigos, família... Eis que meu chefe me liga no dia 22, dizendo que eu tinha que voltar pra embarcar. Viajei na madrugada do dia 23 pro dia 24, embarquei logo que cheguei, pra já iniciar o trabalho na plataforma. Minha ceia de natal foi bolachas com refrigerante, e aproveitei pra quebrar meu recorde de horas sem dormir: 60! Esse natal foi realmente diferente...

And I was happy because I would spend the Christmas day at home, with girlfriend, family, friends... But my boss called me on 22nd, telling me that I had to come back for a job. I traveled during the night from 23rd to 24th, and went offshore as soon as I get there, to start the job at that day in the platform. My Christmas dinner was cookies with soft juice, and I still broke my record of hours awaken: 60! This Christmas was really different...

São Paulo de novo - São Paulo again

Voltei pra São Paulo! É muito legal aqui, cidade grande e tal... Cheio de coisas pra se ver e se fazer! E aqui vou publicar umas fotos de lá. A primeira é do Teatro Municipal, que reformaram e tá bem bonito. Depois uma foto do Vale do Anhangabaú, de cima do Viaduto do Chá, e outra do próprio Viaduto do Chá. E por fim, uma coisa muito comum de São Paulo: artista de rua. Lá sempre tem muitos artistas pelas praças e calçadões. E esse aqui é uma estátua viva, daquelas que quando você dá algum dinheiro, se mexe. Bem legal!

I´m back to São Paulo! It´s pretty cool here, big city, lots of things to see and to do! And I´m gonna post here some pictures from there. First one is from the City Theather, that was refusbished and now is very beautiful. After it, one pic of "Vale do Anhangabaú" (Anhangabaú Valley) from the top of "Viaduto do Chá" (Tea´s Way), and another one from the "Viaduto do Chá". And at last a very commom thing from São Paulo: street artists. There is aways lots of artists around the squares and streets. And this one is a "live statue", it moves when you give it some money. Pretty cool!

Outra lição - Another lesson

Lá se vai o meu carro... Sofri um acidente com ele ontem à noite. Não foi muito sério, mas como as peças dele são caras, disseram que talvez dê PT. Tava com pressa por causa da formatura, e tive muita sorte ao me aproximar de uma rotatória, porque o poste em cima dela estava com a luz queimada. Quando eu consegui ver a rotatória, não deu tempo de frear e passei por cima. Aí estourou os 4 pneus e detonou as 4 rodas e o eixo dianteiro. Mas ainda bem que não aconteceu nada comigo, e que o carro tava no seguro. Aprendi minha lição também, não adianta correr mesmo quando a gente tá com pressa... =(

No car anymore... I had an accident last night. It wasn't that bad, but as its parts are very expensive, I was told it would be a "total lost", as we call here in Brazil (it's when the price to fix it doesn't worth, so we have to buy a new car). I was in a hurry because of the graduation party, and when I was getting close to a rotary, I was very "lucky" because the lights over it were not working. When I could see it, it was too late, and I coudn't brake in time, so I crossed over it. Then my 4 tires blew up, the 4 wheels and the front axis were damaged. Fortunately nothing happened to me, and my car had insurance. I learned my lesson too, it's not worthed to run faster even if we are in a hurry... =(

Quero folga! - I want days off!

Tou feliz e triste ao mesmo tempo... Feliz porque consegui fazer esse trabalho. Depois de estudar todo o manual de operações aqui, consegui me virar e no final do trabalho deu tudo certo. Mas triste porque descobri que vou daqui direto pra outra plataforma pra mais um trabalho (transbordar, como a gente diz aqui). Ou seja, nada de folgas... Acho que nem vou conseguir ir na formatura dos meus amigos, neste sábado. =(

I´m happy and sad at the same time... Happy because I could finish the job. After studying the operations manual here at the platform, I got it and could do everything correct at the end. But I´m sad because I was told to go to another platform straight from here, for one more job (as we say here, I´ll transboard). So, no days off... I´m afraid I won´t be able to go to my friends´ graduation party, on the next saturday. =(

Pra quem achava que ia ser simples... - For the ones who thought it would be simple...

Cheguei aqui na plataforma achando que ia fazer um trabalhinho bem simples e rápido... Agora a coisa complicou de tal maneira que vão ser 3 trabalhos (pelo menos), incluindo explosivos e produtos químicos tóxicos. Sem contar que o tempo que eu vou ficar aqui dobrou, se tudo der certo.

Agonia de estar embarcado - Upset being offshore

Mais uma vez embarcado, só que dessa vez a agonia de querer desembarcar é muito maior... Eu ia sair de folga nesta sexta-feira, coisa que vai ser impossível, pois acho que vou ficar aqui embarcado por pelo menos uma semana... E pra piorar, a plataforma é horrível! Tou dormindo dentro de um contêiner com mais 5 caras. Ou seja, é apertadíssimo! Queria poder tirar umas fotos pra mostrar aqui...

Once more offshore, but this time I'm much more upset about going back... I would get days off on the next friday, what will be impossible since I think I will be here for at least one entire week... Odeio a TIM - I hate TIM

Gostaria de deixar aqui o meu depoimento sobre como eu odeio a TIM. Ontem foi a 5a vez que eu tentei abrir uma conta de celular pós-pago, mas eles se recusam a aceitar o meu comprovante de endereço. Dessa vez eu levei o meu extrato bancário (que eles tinham dito que aceitam), mas o cara recusou porque tinha que ter menos de 30 dias, e a minha tinha 31!!!! É incrivel a falta de bom senso das pessoas...

I'd like to post here my testimony about how I hate TIM (it's a mobile phone operator here in Brazil). Yesterday it was the 5th time I tried to get a post-paid mobile phone account, but the refused my address receipt (here in Brazil, you need to prove your address to get things like this). This time, I took my bank invoice, that they had told me they would accept it, but they didn't because it should be 30 days old, and mine 31!!!! It's unbelievable the lack of good sense from people...

Meu carro! - My car!

Semana passada comprei meu primeiro carro! Dá um pouco de dó de gastar a grana que suei pra ganhar, mas vai valer a pena. Depois de tantos anos, finalmente vou parar de andar de camelo... =]

Last week I bought my first car. It was kinda hard to spend the money that I had to work really hard to get, but it's worthed. After so many years, like we say in portuguese, I will stop "riding camels"... =]

Tanto trabalho pra nada - Hard work for nothing

O meu trabalho aqui pode ser dividido em três partes: a montagem inicíal do equipamento (que é a parte ruim), a parte de aquisição de dados (que é a parte menos pior), e a desomtagem do equipamento (que é a pior parte de todas, pois é a primeira ao contrároi com uma grande dose de cansaço de ter feito as outras antes). Enfim, nesse embarque, depois de trabalhar duro pra montar o equipamento, cancelaram o serviço. Aí a gente teve que desmontar tudo. Ou seja, só fizemos a parte ruim e a parte horrível, e sem ganhar nada por isso... =(

Durante o vôo de volta, pude ver pela janela do helicóptero várias manchas de óleo no mar. Não sei se isso é comum ou pontual, mas tinha barcos tentando limpar o óleo. E até agora não vi nenhuma notícia a respeito de vazamento de óleo por esses dias...

My job here can be divided in three parts: the first is equipment assembly (what is the bad part), the second is the data acquisition (what is the less worse), and the last one is the equipment desassembly (what is the terrible part, because it's the reversal of the first one, including a big amount of tiredness because of the other two). Well, during this job, after the hard work of assembling the equipment, the client canceled the job. So we had to disassembly everything. So we did the bad part and the terrible part, not even earning a little penny for that... =(

During the flight back, I could see lots of oil spills in the sea through the windows of the helicopter. I don't know if it's common or just one case, but there were lots of boats cleaning the oil. And so far I haven't seen any news about oil spills during the last days....

Quase lá - Almost there

Faz tempo que eu tou pra escrever, mas não tá dando tempo... Tou cada vez mais perto da promoção. Teoricamente, já posso fazer trabalhos sozinho, sem supervisão, mas ainda faltam vários treinamentos pra eu ser promovido. Por isso a falta de tempo, tenho estudado pra caramba!

For now, I can do jobs by myself, with no supervision, but I still have to take lots of trainings to get promoted. That's why I have no free time, I've been studying a lot!

Lições aprendidas neste embarque:

1) Nunca esquecer desodorante.
2) Não é bom passar a semana inteira se alimentando de bolachas e refrigerante.
3) Dormir sempre que possível, nunca se sabe quando a gente vai poder dormir novamente.
4) Neve não é lá essas coisas...

Pois é, vi neve pela primeira vez! Mas não foi porque tava frio, e sim porque tinha se formado um pouco de neve numa tubulação de nitrogênio líquido (que é frio pra caralho).

Yeah, I've seen snow for the first time! But it wasn't because of the weather, but because there was some snow created in the pipes of liquid nitrogen (it's cold a shit).

Sonhos malucos - Weird dreams

Essa noite eu tive um sonho muito estranho. Quer dizer, acho que tive... Não sei direito. Sonhei que eu era um cartão de crédito. Assim que acordei, não me lembrava muito bem, então comecei a pensar a respeito. Deve ser ruim ser um cartão de crédito. Sempre passar a pela mão de um monte de gente, ser clonado de vez em quando... Além disso, o cartão de crédito só é amado até o dia da fatura, a partir de então ele é odiado até a morte! Ainda bem que foi só mais um sonho maluco...

Last night I had a very weird dream. I mean, I think I had... I'm not sure. I dreamed that I was a credit card. When I woke up, I didn't remember very well, so I started to think about it. Telefones celulares - Mobile Phones

É incrível como as coisas nunca funcionam quando a gente precisa. Especialmente serviços em geral, como bancos e coisas assim. Já faz um tempão que eu tou tentando comprar um celular pós-pago, mas nunca aceitavam meus comprovantes de endereço (sou nômade, lembram? nada de contas de água ou luz...). Mas agora que eu consegui um que eles aceitam, a porra do sistema de cadastramento estava fora do ar! Acho que algum deus dos telefones celulares não gosta de mim...

It's incredible how things doesn't work when we need them. Specially general services, like banks and similar. It's been a long time since I'm trying to buy a post-paid mobile phone, but they never accepted my address receipts (I'm a nomad, remember? no eletricity or water bills...). But now that I got one receipt that they would accept, the damn registration system was down! I think that there is some "mobile phone god" who doesn't like me...

Segundo post embarcado - Second post offshore

Reparei como eu não tenho mais escrito alguns "insights" que eu tenho de vez em quando... Não sei se parei de ter esses "insights", ou se não tenho tido mais tempo de escrever. Em todo caso, como tou passando um tempinho à toa aqui na plataforma, resolvi postar mais alguma coisa aqui. E pra mostrar pra vocês, essa é a foto da plataforma que eu estou agora, a PCP-2. Na verdade, não é exatamente ela, mas é idêntica. E enquanto eu tava procurando essa foto, achei uma outra bem interessante, de um desenho de plataforma. Espero que isso fique só no desenho...

I noticed that I haven´t written some "insights" that come to me sometimes... I don´t know if I stopped to have them, or if I haven´t had enough time to write about them. Anyway, as I got some free time here in the platform, I decided to post something here. Then, just to show you, this is the pic of the platform I´m in right now, the PCP-2. Actually, it´s not exactly this one, but it´s identical. And while I was looking for this pic, I found another one, very interesting. It´s a drawing of a platform. I hope this will happen only in the drawing...

Primeiro post embarcado - First post offshore

Galera, essa é a primeira vez que consigo escrever alguma coisa aqui no blog estando embarcado. Normalmente o acesso à internet não permite, mas nessa plataforma tem uns computadores de "recreação", então pude escrever! =D

Aqui eu também fiz meu primeiro trabalho com explosivos. Pra quem viu meus vídeos de quando eu estava nos EUA, foi quase igual ao primeiro trabalho que eu mostrei, só que com agora explosivos de verdade, e muito mais canhões. Mas foi bem legal, aprendi direito como trabalhar com os explosivos (quase fiz merda, mas tudo bem... ehehhe).

Ainda vou ter que ficar mais alguns dias aqui, pra fazer um trabalho depois que o pessoal fizer algumas alterações no poço (com mais explosivos!!!). Mas esse eu acho que vai ser bem tranquilo...

Guys, this is the first time that I can post something here being offshore. Usually the internet access is limited, but in this platform there are some "computers for entertainment", so I can write! =D

Here I also did my first job with explosives. For the ones who watched my videos from when I was in USA, was almost the same as the first job I showed, but with real explosives, and much more guns. But it was pretty cool, I learned how to deal with explosives (I almost screwed something up, but I didn´t... ehehhe).

I still will be here for some more days, for doing one job after the guys from the platform do some modifications in the well (with more explosives!!!). But I think it will be everything all right...

Feriado em Búzios - Holidays in Búzios

Sem muitas novidades, apenas um dia de folga... Mas foi bem legal, a Dani veio pra cá, e fomos para Búzios. Lá é bem legal, tem tipo um calçadão cheio de lojinhas, restaurantes, bares e pousadas, e tava bem lotado por causa do feriado. A praia também é bem bonita, com vários barcos de pescadores. Muito show!

Not so many news, just a day off... But it was pretty cool, Dani came here and we went to Búzios. It's a small city close to here, it's great! There is a kind of walking path full of small shops, , restaurants, bars and inns, and it was crowded there because of the holidays. And the beach is also very beautiful, with lots of small fishing boats. It's really great!

O Olho de Thundera - The Thundera's Eye

Agora estou começando a entender o sentido da expressão "vender a alma". Esse embarque foi foda, ao todo foram 20 dias embarcado, e pra mim virar a noite é fichinha. Agora ou aprendendo a ficar duas noites sem dormir, já que dessa vez foram turnos de trabalho de 48 horas seguidas. Fora que mês passado só tive um diazinho de folga, o resto foi trabalho de domingo a domingo. Espero que a grana valha a pena...

Mas dessa vez eu aprendi mais uma expressão engraçada do pessoal que trabalha na plataforma: "colocar a língua no Olho de Tandera". Pra quem não lembra dos Thundercats, dos tempos de criança, vou colocar aqui uma foto do Olho de Tandera, daí vocês podem tirar suas próprias conclusões.

Now I'm starting to understand the meaning of the expression "to sell my soul". This job was really tough, it was 20 days offshore, and to work overnight for me is pretty easy. Now I'm learning how to spend two nights without sleeping, because this time we took shifts of 48 hours working straight. And last month I had only one day off, the entire month I was working from Sunday to Sunday. I hope the money will be worth...

But this time I learned one more expression from the guys who work at the platform: "put the tongue in the Tandera Eye". For the ones who don't remember of the Thundercats, from childhood, I'll put here a picture of the Tundera Eye, so you can have your own conclusions.

PSP downgrade

Pode parecer meio fora de contexto desse blog, mas eu acho legal publicar isso aqui, que pode ajudar alguém que teve o mesmo problema que eu tive. Eu comprei um PSP (Playstation Pocket) nos EUA, que possuía o firmware versão 2.6. Daí descobri que era possível baixar jogos na internet e jogá-los diretamente do meu memory stick, mas para isso era preciso firmware versão 1.5. Procurei vários meios de trocar a versão do meu firmware, e depois de muito brigar, consegui. Estão aqui estão os passos que eu segui:

1) Fazer o download do downgrader DOWNDATER FINAL AUTO, você pode encontrá-lo aqui.
2) Copiar o diretório que contém o arquivo EBOOT.PBP para dentro da pasta PSP/GAME do seu memory stick.
3) Fazer o download dos arquivos da versão 1.5, você pode encontrá-los aqui.
4) Copiar a pasta DOWNDATER (que contém a versão 1.5) na raiz do seu memory stick.
5) Fazer o download do eLoaderBeta 2.6, você pode encontrá-lo aqui.
6) Copiar os arquivos do eLoaderBeta 2.6 (pasta PSP contendo os arquivos) na raiz do memory stick (responda SIM ao substituir os arquivos).
7) Conectar o cabo de energia no PSP.
8) Iniciar o GTA LCS, o eLoader deverá iniciar automaticamente.
9) O eLoader mostrará o DOWNGRADER numa lista, basta executá-lo.
10) A tela ficará preta, e a luz de leitura do memory stick ficará piscando por algum tempo, e então o PSP reiniciará. Caso não reinicie, espere pelo menos um minuto após a luz parar de piscar antes de reiniciar o PSP.
11) Após reiniciar, deve aparecer uma tela de dados corrompidos, dizendo para pressionar o botão "círculo". Após isso, reconfigure seu PSP.
12) Pronto, agora, você tem um PSP versão 1.5!

It may seem out of the context of this blog, but I think it's good to post this, what can helps someone who had the same problem as me. I bought a PSP (Playstation Pocket) in USA, that had its firmware version 2.6. Then I found out that it was possible to download games on the internet and play then directly from my memory stick, but to be able to do this, I would need a firmware version 1.5. I searched many ways to change the version of my firmware, and after fighting a lot with this issue, I got it! So here are the steps I followed:

1) Download the downgrader software DOWNDATER FINAL AUTO, you can find it here.
2) Copy the folder containing the file EBOOT.PBP to the folder PSP/GAME inside your memory stick.
3) Download the files of the firmware version 1.5, you can find them here.
4) Copy the folder DOWNDATER (which contains the versino 1.5) to the root of your memory stick.
5) Download eLoaderBeta 2.6, you can find it here.
6) Copy eLoaderBeta 2.6 files (folder PSP containing the files) to the root of your memory stick (say yes to overwrite the files).
7) COnnect the power plug to your PSP.
8) Start GTA LCS, eLoader should start automatically.
9) The eLoader will show A list, including the DOWNGRADER, just run it.
10) The screen will turn black, and the left light will be blinking for a while, indicating that its reading the memory stick. After this, your PSP will reboot. If not, wait at least one minute after the light stops blinking to reboot it.
11) After reboot, you will receive a "corrupted data" screen asking you to press "circle" button. After this, reconfigure your PSP.
12) Ok, now you have a PSP with firmware version 1.5!

Só embarcando - Just offshore

Esse embarque foi foda... Foram 8 dias na sonda, trabalhando direto. Foi bom, porque eu aprendi bastante coisa! Mas foi muito cansativo... Tivemos alguns problemas, e por conta disso, tivemos que fazer todo o trabalho três vezes! Mas no final, deu tudo certo.

Agora o pessoal não tá me dando trégua... Fiquei 2 dias em terra, e já tou embarcando de novo. Depois tento escrever um pouco mais aqui.

This time was really tough... It was 8 days at the rig, working straight. It was good, because I learned a lot! But it was very tiresome... We had some problems, and because of that, we had to do all the works three times! But in the end, everything was ok.

Now my boss is giving me a hard time... I spent 2 days onshore, and now I'm going offshore again. After I come back, I will try to write a little bit more here.

Algo de bom! - Something nice!

Apesar de eu ter trabalhado nesse feriado, o fim de semana foi bem legal! A Dani veio aqui pra Macaé passar o fim-de-semana comigo, e a gente pôde matar as saudades um pouco. Mas agora ela foi embora, e as saudades voltaram de novo. Nem tenho idéia de quando a gente vai poder se ver novamente.

Uma coisa engraçada foi que a gente foi comer em vários lugares durante esses dias. E a cada dia eu trazia um monte de comida que sobrava pra casa. Resultado: agora a geladeira tá cheia, mas vou embarcar e vai estragar tudo... =( ... Depois, quando eu voltar, vou estar morrendo de fome, mas sem comida, só lembrando de como estavam bons os pratos nos restaurantes...

Despite I had worked during the holidays, this weekend was very nice! Dani came here to Macaé to spend this weekend with me, and we could get to see each other for a while. But now she is gone, and I'm missing her again. I have no idea on when we will be able to see each other again.

A funny thing that happened was that we went to lots of restaurants during these days. And on each meal, I brought a lot of food back home. In the end, my fridge is now full, but I will go offshore, so everythig will be bad when I come back. So, I will be starving with no food at home, just remembering how good were the dishes at the restaurants...

Balada in Vitória - Night club in Vitória

Depois de muito suor, uma diversão de vez em quando é bom também né... A balada lá em Vitória foi show! Rolou até fogo na boate, dêem uma olhada nesse videozinho que eu coloquei. Sempre me disseram que lá tinha muita mulher bonita, e isso é verdade (vide foto!), tinha pouquíssimas barangas na balada. O problema é que tinha muito homem também, mas nada é perfeito mesmo...

Agora já tou de volta a Macaé, me preparando pra emabarcar de novo. Ouvi boatos de que ia rolar um trabalho na Amazônia, quem sabe vou arrumar umas fotos no meio da selva pra colocar aqui... =D

After of sweating a lot, a little fun sometimes is pretty good... The night there in Vitória was great! We even had fire at the club, check it out on this video I posted. I was always told that there were lots of hot girls there, and it's true (look at the picture!), there were very little ugly girls there. The only problem is that there were lots of guys too, but nothing is perfect...

Now I'm back to Macaé, preparing myself to go offshore again. I heard some rumors that there would be a job in Amazonia, (the Rain Forest), maybe I will get some pics in the middle of the jungle to post here... =D

Aniversário na plataforma - Birthday at the platform

Voltei da plataforma! Dessa vez foram 7 dias. A gente embarcou na 4a feira, esperamos até domindo pra começar a trabalhar. Depois disso, fui dormir de novo só na 3a feira. Foi show passar meu aniversário virando duas noites seguidas trabalhando na plataforma... ehehhe...
Apesar disso, consegui tirar algumas fotos de lá dessa vez! Na verdade, era proibido tirar fotos, mas eu levei minha máquina escondida e fui tirando fotos quando tinha oportunidade. Por isso que eu não pude sair em nenhuma, não ia ser legal se eles me pegassem com a boca na butija... =D
Dessa vez foi foda, o mar tava bravo pra caralho, era muito difícil se movimentar pra trabalhar. Além disso, o queimador (esse fogaréu na foto, esse queimador vai queimando o óleo produzido enquanto a gente trabalha, devem ter queimado uns 250.000 dólares só com a gente!) tava muito perto da nossa unidade, deixava muito quente lá dentro. Mas ainda assim, foi bem legal, aprendi bastante coisa nesse embarque.

I'm back from the platform! This time it was 7 days. We boarded on Wednesday and waited until Sunday to start working. After this, I could sleep again just on TUesday. It was great to spend my birthday working two entire nights in a row at the rig... ehehhe...
Despite that, I could take some pics from there! Actually, it was forbidden to take pictures, but I had hidden my camera and I took some pics when I had the opportunity to do so. That's why I don't appear in any picture, it woudn't be good if I was caught... =D
This job was really tough, the tide was very furious, it was pretty hard to move around to work. Besides, the "burner" (this big fire in the picture, this burner keeps burning all the oil that is produced while we are working, I think they have burned 250,000 dollars only for us!) was very close to our unit, getting really hot inside. But even with this, it was pretty cool, I've learned a lot during this job.

Vitória

Cheguei em Vitória ontem à noite, e já estou arrumando minhas coisas pra embarcar agora à tarde. Nem saímos ontem pra poder descansar pro trabalho. Mas tomara que dê pra curtir um pouquinho quando eu desembarcar, antes de votlar pra Macaé. Em todo caso, tou colocando uma fotinho da vista da sacada do meu quarto. Belo visual!

I arrived in Vitória yesterday night, and right now I'm packing and preparing to go offshore after lunch. We didn't go out last night, to have a good rest and be ready to work. But I hope we can enjoy a little bit when we come back from the platform, before going back to Macaé. Anyway, I'm posting here a picture from my room's balcony. Nice view!

Balada - Night club

Essa semana tá programado um embarque em Vitória. Tou doido pra ir pra lá conhecer a cidade, mas não sei se vou ter muito tempo disponível, porque provavelmente vou embarcar assim que chegar lá.
Ontem fui à minha primeira balada aqui em Macaé, era no salão de um hotel aqui, pegava a área da piscina e tal... Foi bem legal. E agora tou colocando umas fotos novas, pra dar uma animada nesse blog. Tem uma outra foto também, da lagoa aqui perto, tirada da sacada do apartamento do meu amigo daqui.

This week I'm supposed to go to a platform in Vitoria. I'm looking forward to visit that city, but probably I won't have so much free time, because I will board as soon as I get there.
Yesterday I went to a night club for my first time here in Macaé. It was in a kind of "party room" inside a hotel, and also at the swimming pool area. Was pretty cool. And now I'm posting some new pics, to cheer this blog up. The is also another pic, from a lake close to my place, I took it from the balcony of my friend's apartment.

Em alto-mar - Offshore

Essa semana rolou o meu primeiro embarque a uma plataforma, foi show! Fiquei 4 dias lá e, apesar de alguns probleminhas, deu tudo certo por lá. Mas a vida na plataforma realmente é muito interessante, até que tinha muito conforto lá. TV a cabo, ar condicionado, sala de recreação, academia, internet (limitada, mas tinha)... É bem grande! Outra coisa legal é que em alto-mar, o mar é muito limpo, azulzinho! Dava pra ver os peixes nadando lá no fundo!
Uma outra coisa engraçada que eu percebi... Aqui em terra, eu sempre via muita gente andando de um jeito engraçado, meio pulando, meio cambaleando, e eu não entendia o porquê... Agora que eu embarquei, saquei! A gente fica balançando o corpo lá, pra compensar o movimento da plataforma. Só que, quando a gente volta, continua balançando!!! É uma sensação muito estranha... ehehhe...
Eu queria ter tirado fotos pra poder mostrar pra vocês aqui, mas não deixaram... Até meu celular lacraram, não teve jeito. Mas disseram que algumas poucas plataformas deixam tirar fotos, no dia que eu for pra alguma dessas, tiro umas fotos pra postar aqui.

This week I had my first job offshore, it was great! I spent 4 days there in the platform and, besides some little problems, everything was fine. But living inside a platform is really interesting, it was pretty confortable. Cable TV, air conditioner, break room, gym, internet (limited, but still...)... It's very big! Another cool thing is that there, in deep water, the sea is so blue! I could see lots of fishes swimming down there!
One funny thing that I noticed... Here on land, I aways used to see lots of people walking in a funny way, kinda jumping, kinda swinging, and I couldn't understand why... But now that I was offshore, I could! There we keep swinging our bodies, to compensate the movement of the platform, because of the tides. But, when we come back, we keep doing that!!! It's a very weird sensation... ehhehe...
I wanted to take some pics to show you here, but they didn't allow me to do it... Even my mobile phone, they locked it! But I was told that there are a few platfoms where they allow us to take pics, when I go to one of those, I will take some pics to post here.

Trabalho, trabalho... - Work, work...

Caramba, essa semana foi foda. Todo dia trabalhando até 10, 11 da noite, numa correria pra fazer um monte de coisas que nunca acabam. Mas amanhã tá previsto o meu primeiro embarque a uma plataforma, finalmente! Disseram que não pode tirar fotos lá, mas mesmo assim vou tentar tirar algumas pra mostrar pra vocês! =D

Wow, this week was really tough. Everyday working until 10, 11 pm, hurrying up to do lots of thing that never end. But tomorrow I'm supposed to go on my first job in a platform, finally! I was told I can't take pictures there, but even though I will try to take some to show you! =D

Licensa para matar - License to kill

Esses dias não fiz nada de novo a não ser trabalhar bastante. E ontem aproveitei o domingo pra descansar, e fiquei morgando o dia inteiro! =D
Hoje pela manhã descobri que já tou apto a embarcar nas plataformas. Agora eu tenho licensa para matar... Eheheh...

Today morning I found out that I'm already allowed to go offshore. Now I have license to kill... Eheheh...

Sovrevivência no mar - Sea survival

Hoje foi o último dia de treinamento, técnicas de sobrevivência no mar. Foi bem legal, a gente aprendeu a pular da plataforma, técnicas pra flutuar, manter o calor do corpo, utilizar os equipamentos de emergência... Eu queria ter tirado mais fotos, mas não consegui, porque tava ocupado nadando nesse marzão aberto aí da foto... Ehehhe...

Today was the last day of training, we learned survival tecniques at the sea. It was pretty cool, we learned how to jump from the platform, floating tecniques, how to keep your body heat, how to use the emergency equipment... I wanted to take more pictures, but I coudn't, because I was busy swimming at this wide-open sea from this picture... Ehehhe...

Combate a incêndio - Fire fighting

Hoje foi muito mais legal, a gente aprendeu técnicas de combate a incêndio. Foram várias técnicas, desde aprender a ser brigadista para apagar incêncios com mangueira (não, não tive que sentar na mangueira...) até usando diversos tipos de extintores. Tivemos vários exercícios simulando diferentes tipos de incêndio, como painel elétrico em curto-circuito, vazamento de tubulação de gás e incêndio dentro de uma cabine. Esse último foi o mais difícil, pois a gente tem que entrar dentro da cabine agaixado com o rosto no chão pra poder respirar, e então apagar o fogo. E ainda assim comi um monte de fumaça... Eheheh...

Today was pretty cool, we learned fire fighting techniques. It was a lot of techniques, like learn how to be part of the brigade group and extinguish fires with an water hose (no, I didn't have to sit on the hose... It's a dirty brazilian joke.) and use several types of fire extinguisher. We did lots of exercizes simulating different types of fire, like a short-circuited electrical panel, leak on gas pipes and fire inside of a cabin. This last one was very tough, because we had to crouch to get inside the cabin, with our faces touching the ground, to be able to breath, and then fight the fire. And even like this, I "ate" a lot of smoke... Eehehhe...

Treinamento - Training course

Essa semana tou fazendo uma série de treinamentos necessários pra se embarcar em plataformas de petróleo. São um basico sobre a sobrevivência na plataforma, sobrevivência no mar, primeiros socorros e combate a incêndio. OS primeiros dias foram mais teóricos, e práticas de primeiros socorros, então não teve nada de anormal. Mas creio que os outros treinamentos vão ser mais legais... Ehehhe...

De qualquer forma, tou colocando umas fotos daqui de Macaé. Uma da capitania dos portos, onde a gente faz o treinamento de sobrevivência no mar, e outra aqui da praia em frente de casa. Não é lá essas coisas, mas pelo menos é onda dizer que eu moro em frente à praia... Eheeh...

During this week I'm attending to some training courses, so I can be able to go offshore, on oil platforms. They are basic stuff about living at platforms, sea survival, first aid and fire fighting. The first days were just theory and practicals on first aid, so it wasn't a big deal. But I'm pretty sure that the other days will be cool... Ehehhe...

Anyway, I'm posting some pics here from Macaé. One from the docks, where we attend to the sea survival training, and another from the beach in front of home. It's no so good, but at least it's good to say that I live in front of the beach... ehehhe...

Búzios

Hoje foi meu primeiro dia de folga aqui em Macaé. Ontem rolou um churrasco de recrutamento, e tinha um monte de candidatos, foi bem legal! Ficamos conversando até umas 4 da manhã... E hoje fomos para Búzios, que é aqui pertinho de Macaé. Lá é muito bonito, tem uns lugares bem legais. Apesar de não ser temporada, até que tinha um pessoalzinho la, e uma minas bem gatinhas, como dá pra ver na foto... ehehhe

Today was my first day-off here in Macaé. Yesterday we had a barbecue party of the recruiting process, and there was a lot of recruits, it was pretty cool! We kept talking until about 4 in the morning... And today we went to Búzios, a city close to here. It's very beautiful there, and it has some really cool places. Despite it's not an holiday or some time when people can travel to there, there were a few people hanging around, and some hot chicks also, as you can see in the pictures... ehehhe

Work hard, play hard

Esses dias, sem novidades a não ser trabalho. Mas tou começando a me engajar na vida "work hard, play hard", ou seja, tudo ao extremo. Ontem eu virei a noite trabalhando, dormi umas duas horas pela manhã e trabalhei o dia inteiro hoje. E à noite, ainda saí com a galera, chegando em casa por volta de 3 da manhã, pra trabalhar no sábado de manhã. Ainda tenho que me acostumar a isso... Eheheh...




Fora isso, tou colocando mais umas fotos dos dias de folga, porque foi realmente um período bem legal, então vale a pena colocar mais umas fotos aqui. É muito bom poder estar entre os amigos!

During these days, no news but lots of work. But I'm starting to get into this new life of "work hard, play hard", I mean, everythig to the edge. Yesterday I worked all night long, slept for about two hours in the morning, and the I went back to work, during the entire day. And at the night, I went out with the other guys, arriving home about 3 in the morning, and I had to work on Saturday morning. I still gotta get used to it... Eheheh...

Besides this, I'm posting some more pics of my days-off, because it was really great, so it's worth to put some more pics here. It's so good to be with our friends!
