Inglês na marra - English by force

Hoje começou o curso, e parece que vamos ter um monte de coisas pra aprender em pouquíssimo tempo... Mas acho que vai ser legal! À noite fomos jantar num restaurante chamado "Red Lobster" (lagosta vermelha), um daqueles restaurantes em que você pode escolher a lagosta que você quer comer no aquário, enquanto ela ainda está viva... ehehhe

Agora não tem jeito... eu sou o único brasileiro aqui, e vou ter que aprender de uma vez por todas a me comunicar em inglês, nem que seja na marra! Tou dividindo o apartamento com um americano, o John. Parece ser gente fina, e está me ajudando a ampliar meu vocábulario, principalmente com gírias... =D

Falando sobre mais uma coisa engraçada que eu vi, aqui não existe térreo. Ou seja, o térreo, para eles, é o primeiro andar. Até que faz sentido, mas toda hora eu acabo subindo um andar a mais do que eu preciso...

E continuando com os videozinhos, esse aqui é da gente no aeroporto de Houston, andando no trenzinho que liga os terminais. Muito igual ao início do jogo "Half-Life"!

Today we started our training course, and it seems we will have lots of things to learn in a really short time... But I think it will be cool! At night, we went to have dinner in a restaurant called "Red Lobster", one of those restaurants where you can choose the lobster you want to eat from inside an aquarium, when it's still alive... ehehhe

Now there it's settled... I'm the only brazilian here, so I will have to learn for once how to communicate in English, even if it's by force! I'm sharing my apartment with an american guy, named John. He seems to be a nice guy, and he is helping me to increase my vocabulary, specially with slangs... =D

Talking about one more funny thing I've seen, here there are no terrain floor. I mean, in Brazil, the first floor is the first one above the ceiling, but here the first one is the one at surface level. It kind of make sense, but I aways go up one floor more than I need...

And keeping the idea about posting some videos here, this one is from us at Houston airport, riding the train that connects all the terminals. It really looks like the beginning of the game "Half-Life"!
